Fresh Ranma 1/2 Anime Streams with a Spotless Opening 

On Saturday, the opening scene of the upcoming anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 manga was made available for viewing on the official website without any credits. "Iinazukekkyun," the opening theme song of Ano, is featured in the sequence. The song will be made available on music platforms on October 9 at midnight.  

                           

                                                                                                                                                                       In Japan, the anime will have its national premiere on October 5 at 24:55 JST on  the NTV channel (that is, on October 6 at 12:55 a.m. JST). After it airs, the anime will only be available to stream on Netflix.  

Megumi Hayashibara, Noriko Hidaka, and Kappei Yamaguchi are returning to their respective roles as Akane Tendō, (female) Ranma, and (male) Ranma Saotome. Rei Sakuma is playing Ryōga Hibiki again, while Kōichi Yamadera is back as

      Shampoo. As Nabiki Tendō and Kasumi Tendō, respectively, Minami Takayama and Kikuko Inoue are playing the same roles they had in the previous anime. The new anime will feature Akio Ōtsuka as Sōun Tendō, taking Ryunosuke Ohbayashi's place. Kenichi Ogata, who will take over as the new anime's narrator in lieu of the late Tadashi Nakamura, will be replaced by Chō in the role of Genma Saotome.

The following new cast members—who are not returning from earlier anime projects—are: 

• Tomokazu Sugita as Tatewaki Kunō

• Ayane Sakura as Kodachi Kunō

• Toshiyuki Morikawa as Tōfū Ono

• Mamoru Miyano as Mikado Sanzenin

• Aoi Yūki as Azusa Shiratori 

  The new series at MAPPA is directed by Kōnosuke Uda (DAYS, the cinematic adaptation of One Piece: Dead End). Hiromi Taniguchi (Kurage no Shokudō) is in charge of character design, while Kimiko Ueno (Delicious in Dungeon, Astro Note) oversees series writing. "Iinazukekkyun," the anime's opening theme song, is being performed by ano. "Anta Nante," the anime's closing theme song, is being performed by singer-songwriter Riria.  

  The new anime's twelve episodes were leaked in August.
