A two-hour special introducing the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End anime debuted on September 29, 2023. This Friday night show on NTV, "Kinyō Roadshow," is the first-ever television anime block, typically hosting feature films, will debut this series. On October 6 at 11:00 p.m. JST, the anime commenced airing further episodes at NTV's newly created anime timeslot, "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT." The first season was streamed live on Crunchyroll, and the English dub is currently available for viewing.

The manga has been licensed by Viz Media, which explains the plot:

Even when the journey is finished, the elf mage who is only starting to understand what life is all about carries on. After defeating the Demon King, the brave explorers Frieren, an elf wizard, and their companions have restored peace to the region. However, Frieren's former party will not survive for very long. How will she learn what life means to the people who are closest to her? Frieren is confronted with her own almost immortality during a friend's funeral, decades after their win. Frieren embarks on a new journey as she attempts to grant her friends' final desires.

The first season at Madhouse was directed by Keiichirō Saitō (Bocchi the Rock!). Series scripts were overseen by Tomohiro Suzuki (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., One-Punch Man, Boogiepop and Others). The characters were developed by Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny). The soundtrack was composed by Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Josee, The Tiger and the Fish, Muv-Luv Alternative).
