The Egghead Arc of One Piece anime will return in April.

On Sunday, a teaser trailer for the One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda and its anime adaptation confirmed that the show will pick up where it left off, with the ongoing Egghead arc starting in April. The announcement was made on Sunday night after the anime screenings of One Piece Film Red and Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation on television.

Update: The television anime is rearranging what airs in its regular Sunday timeslot until the end of March 2025 in order to "recharge," as was revealed by the live-streamed "One Piece News#1" special. On December 22, Jump Festa 2025 will release additional information, which will include the anime's new schedule beginning in April.

Instead, on Sunday, October 27, a specially edited version of the Fish-Man Island arc will premiere, preceded by the One Piece Fan Letter special. The shortened 21-episode "One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga" will have a Dolby Atmos audio in addition to reshot scenes with enhanced lighting, special effects, color shading, and graphics.

For the special edited version, Hiroshi Kitadani's previous rendition of the "We Go!" opening theme song will be replaced by a new rendition performed by "special guests" Mugiwara no Ichimi (Straw Hat Pirates). BE:FIRST, a boy band whose members are all admittedly die-hard One Piece fans, is supplying "Sailing," the show's theme song.

Launching on Sunday in Japan, One Piece Base is a smartphone app that features a manga reader along with additional content from the whole franchise. It is scheduled for distribution outside of Japan in 2025. Fans can earn points for unlocking chapters to read in the web app by scanning the bar codes of specific One Piece goods into the app. The Nigaoe Maker (Portrait Maker) feature of the app will transform users' selfies into Oda-inspired artwork.

The One Piece Fan Letter special, which will premiere on October 20, has a new promotional video that was streamed earlier on Sunday on the franchise's official English YouTube site. The special honors the 25th anniversary of the anime and is based on Tomohito Ōsaki's One Piece novel Mugiwara Stories (Straw Hat Stories) collection of short stories.

The fifteenth and most recent movie in the series, One Piece Film Red, debuted in August 2022. As of November 2023, the last day of encore showings, the movie has made a total of 20.33 billion yen, or roughly US$137 million, in Japan. The movie is the #4 highest-grossing anime film in Japan and the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time in Japan (without accounting for inflation).

In terms of both the quantity of tickets sold and the amount of money made at the box office, the film has emerged as the highest-grossing entry in the franchise. In terms of yen gained and tickets sold, the movie did the best at the Japanese box office in 2022.

Both the Wit Studio adaptation of One Piece for Netflix and its second live-action season are presently under development.

Update 2: Additional details have been added via Comic Natalie and the press statement from Toei Animation. One Piece Fan Letter and One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga will be available for streaming, Crunchyroll said in a press release on Sunday.
